Orange Co, VA (5/19 update): Shelter PACKED -- LOTS of Hounds, St. B mix, Border Collie mix, Pits, Collie mix, MORE

This shelter is doing their best to not euthanize their adoptable animals – but they are overloaded and need rescue help to keep their dogs moving. All animals being adopted are altered prior to transport; animals to rescue can be altered by the shelter or by the receiving rescue. Vetting is done on all animals as follows:

*All dogs/puppies vaccinated for bordatella/distemper

*Dogs/puppies 4 mos+ rabies vaccine

*Dogs/puppies 6 mos+ Idexx HW test (EC/Lyme/HW)*Puppies 4 mos+ dewormed w/at least Panacur and also receive Albon

*Adult dogs dewormed with Strongid/Drontal (Ivomec as appropriate)

*Puppies are quarantined for 15 days

*Cats/kittens FeLV tested, vaccinated for distemper, wormed w/Strongid and Drontal; kittens also get Albon

The dogs on the website are NOT in danger of euthanasia unless they become stressed out at the shelter – but moving these dogs will make room for other dogs to get a chance at adoption.

BO DEREK F Hound, tricolor, adult, large
BO DEREK is an older female Hound. She is friendly and very active.

HOUSTON M Hound, tricolor, adult, large
Houston is a male Coon Hound. He is friendly, a little shy at first, good with other dogs.

TOT F Shar Pei mix, tan, 1 yr, medium
Tot is a 1 yr. old female Shar Pei mix. She is very playful and active, needs lots of training and attention since brought in as a pup with demodex, a non-contagious form of mange which will very likely disappear. Meanwhile should be brought up inside as sunlight and grass aggravate the condition. She has been raised with her brother, Tater.



FLO F Hound, tricolor, adult, medium
Flo is an adult female hound. She is dominant with other dogs, good with children, and loves attention.

MALERY M Chow/Border Collie mix, white/black, 3 yrs, large
Malery is a 3 yr. old male Collie mix. He is very nice and sweet, knows some commands, active, good with other dogs.

GIDDEON M Pit Bull Terrier mix, red w/white chest, adult, large - FOSTERED
Giddeon is a neutered male Pit Bull. He is currently in foster care, but is awaiting his "forever" home. He is crate-trained, almost completely housebroken now. He lives with teenagers and adults in a busy family environment. He knows "sit" and loves to go for car rides. He is used to other bigger, rambunctiously playful dogs!

ELVIS M Hound, black/tan, 5 yrs, large
Elvis is a five year old male Hound. He is sweet and shy.

WILEY M Hound, white w/reddish tan patches, adult, medium
WILEY is an adult male Hound. He is one great looking guy with beautiful patchwork color on his coat. Wiley is very gentle. Gets along well with other dogs.

Cynthia is a sweet female Hound, 6 yrs. old. She loves to play, loves belly rubs, is really friendly, and is good with other dogs.

PRETTY GIRL is a year old female Border Collie mix. Lives up to her name. Pretty Girl is sweet and gentle. Gets along with other dogs.

MARGO is a five year old female Hound. What a lovely lady! Margo is a gentle and sweet girl who loves attention and wags her whole chubby body just to get some lovin'! Good with dogs, she should do beautifully with children and will make a wonderful family pet. She has an unbelievably sweet disposition and and would so appreciate spending the years she has left in a loving relationship with an owner who would return her devotion and friendship! Jimmy is a male Pit Bull, approximate age between 7-9 yrs. of age. He is housebroken and friendly. We recommend no kids under the age of 12. He is very sweet and gentle, but shy.

OREO F Pointer mix, black/white, adult, large
Oreo is a very special dog in search of a very special person. She has had a history of betrayal and of people not paying attention to her needs, so now she is looking for a stable environment and loving home. She needs to be the only dog in her home, and perhaps, the only animal. She bonds strongly to one special person, and she wants to be someone's very best friend and companion and do everything with them. A single person or couple might be better than a large family. Oreo is very intelligent and very sensitive. She is also athletic, and would love to have a job to do with her person such as agility or obedience training. She loves to be touched and held and cuddled. This is a remarkable dog with great potential. She has been through a lot and is ready for her new home! Oreo is a house dog and has appropriate manners. She loves long walks and regular exercise. She walks beautifully on leash but seems more comfortable wearing a harness.

SWEET CREAM is a three year old female Hound (red & white). Classy Lady. Very friendly. Sweet Cream is good with people and good with dogs, BUT please NO CATS. She loves to have her own blanket to sleep on.
